Beef Stroganoff
ingredients
½ lb of round steak (not ground beef)
Fresh mushrooms
1 medium onion
1 can mushroom soup
½ small carton of sour cream
1 tbs Worcestershire sauce
1 tbs butter
2-3 tbs dry sherry
Some soy sauce
Egg noodles
Tenderize steak by pounding it on both sides. Put in a flat glass pan and pour soy sauce on it. Turn it over so both sides have at least a thin coating of soy sauce; do this at least a few hours before cooking so that the meat will be more tender. When ready to cook, slice the meat against the grain into thin strips. Place back into soy sauce. Wash mushrooms well and slice thinly. Saute mushrooms and chopped onion in butter. Remove from pan. Place meat strips in pan and cook until barely done. Pour in mushroom soup, stir well, and then add Worcestershire sauce. Just before serving, add sour cream and sherry, but don't let this get too hot, or the cream will curdle. In the meantime, boil water for the noodles and cook until limp. Drain noodles when done, and sit down for a wonderful meal!
